Why Cats Make the Best Household Pets

Cats are often misunderstood creatures, but they can make wonderful companions. If you’re thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, here are a few reasons why a cat might be the perfect pet for you:

  • Cats are independent. Cats don’t need to be walked or taken outside to the bathroom, and they’re content to spend time on their own. This makes them a great option for busy people who don’t have a lot of time to devote to a pet.
  • Cats are clean. Cats are very self-sufficient creatures, and they spend a lot of time grooming themselves. This means that you don’t have to worry about them getting dirty or smelly.
  • Cats are low-maintenance. Cats don’t require a lot of exercise or training. They’re happy to spend most of their time napping or playing with toys.
  • Cats are affectionate. Cats can be just as loving and cuddly as dogs. They enjoy being petted and scratched, and they’ll often purr contentedly when you’re around.
  • Cats can be trainable. While cats are not as easily trainable as dogs, they can still learn basic commands like “sit” and “stay.” This can be helpful if you want to teach your cat to do tricks or avoid certain areas of your home.

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate, and independent pet, a cat might be the perfect choice for you. With a little patience and training, you can create a loving bond with your new feline friend.

Tips for Choosing the Right Cat for You

When choosing a cat, it’s important to consider your lifestyle and preferences. Here are a few things to think about:

  • Age. Cats come in all ages, from kittens to senior cats. If you’re looking for a cat that will be with you for many years, a senior cat might be a good option. Kittens are full of energy and love to play, but they can also be a bit mischievous.
  • Activity level. Some cats are very active and love to play, while others are more laid-back. If you have a busy lifestyle, you might want to choose a low-maintenance cat.
  • Personality. Cats come in all personalities, from shy and timid to outgoing and friendly. If you’re looking for a cat that will cuddle up with you on the couch, you might want to choose a cat with a more affectionate personality.

Once you’ve considered these factors, you’ll be able to narrow down your choices and find the perfect cat for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Fur Ever Home Cat Sanctuary, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our feline residents. For this reason, we do not publicly disclose our physical address in order to prevent unplanned drop-offs. Our sanctuary operates at its current maximum capacity, which means we are providing care for a significant number of cats. While we have space available for more cats and would love to help every feline in need, we are dependent on the support of our community to ensure we can provide proper care for each feline in need.

It is also important to note that Fur Ever Home Cat Sanctuary is specifically designed to provide a safe haven for unadoptable cats and those unlikely to survive in the wild. Many of our feline friends come from local humane societies that have determined them to be unadoptable and at risk of euthanasia.  We are grateful for your understanding and encourage you to join us in our mission to give these cats the life they deserve.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we have received tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This means that when you contribute to our cause, your generous donations may be deductible from your taxable income, potentially reducing the amount of taxes you owe. Your support not only helps provide care and shelter for our feline residents but also comes with the added benefit of potential tax savings. We recommend consulting with a qualified tax professional to understand the specific guidelines and requirements for claiming tax deductions on charitable donations. Thank you for considering supporting our sanctuary and for making a difference in the lives of these precious cats.

Our spacious sanctuary is composed of a total of 4 sections that have unique fencing to help keep our felines in and predatory wildlife out.  The exterior perimeter is also equipped with an electric fence to prevent larger predators from digging under the fencing.

New cats are kept in segregation until they have been spayed/neutered and received any needed veterinary care before being released into our larger areas.  Care takers live on site at the sanctuary and feed, clean sand boxes, and visit with the cats multiple times daily.  In addition to our live stream we also have extensive additional security camera coverage around our facility and gated entrances into it.
